Veterans at The Salvation Army Laura Danieli Senior Activity Center with Dave Everett, Walgreens store manager and Diana Gregory
The veterans at The Salvation Army Laura Danieli Senior Activity Center don’t think of Memorial Day as just a day off. The 5 of them have served our country and know that this day is meant to honor the men and women of the Armed Forces. The Veterans were acknowledged for their service during the Senior Health and Wellness Series, sponsored by Walgreens. Not only did the veterans receive a complimentary bag of fresh produce from Gregory’s Fresh Market Place provided by Walgreens, they also received Walgreens blankets and a gift card.

Congratulations to 4 of the seniors at Phoenix Silvercrest Apartments and Westward Ho Apartments that will receive a complimentary bag of produce each month through December. This outreach program is made possible from the support of donors.
It is not too late to sponsor a senior through the rest of the year by providing them with a monthly bag of fresh fruits and vegetables. Gregory’s Fresh Market Place is accepting donations for the second quarter. We service 5,000 seniors in the greater Phoenix area. Due to the overwhelming response from the “Sponsor a Senior for the Holiday” program, we will launch “Sponsor A Senior Throughout the Year.” The program dates are March 5 – December 31, 2012. For a donation of $100.00, each senior will receive one bag filled with fresh fruits and vegetables monthly, information on eating and staying healthy, and a minimum of 3 food demonstrations and nutrition education/wellness classes. You are invited to join us monthly and meet the senior or seniors your are sponsoring. Please consider sponsoring several senior citizens for the program in GFMP’s 30 locations throughout the Greater Phoenix area. Your gift is fully tax deductible. Just click the donate button.

To date, seniors have been provided with fresh fruits and vegetables for the holidays in 8 of our 30 locations. The seniors and the GFMP team are very appreciative for the support from our sponsors, Majerle’s Sports Grill and Southwest Gas, friends and supporters that helped make this program possible.
